Middle Georgia Regional Commission Council Considers Appointments and Alcohol License Renewals

During the Milledgeville City Council meeting on November 26, 2024, key discussions centered around appointments to the Middle Georgia Regional Commission Council and the renewal of alcohol licenses for local businesses.

Council members Laura Mathis and Cindy Cunningham provided updates on the reappointments of Council Member Shinholster and Council Member Mapp to the commission. The council anticipates that any applications received before December 10 will be included in the next batch for approval.

Lastly, a report from the pension committee meeting highlighted discussions on defined contribution plans, with insights shared about retirement contributions from other cities. Milledgeville remains one of the few cities in Georgia that fully contributes to retirement plans for its employees, underscoring the city's commitment to supporting its workforce.
