Bridal Tamayo leads John O'Connell High School fostering diversity and peer connections

In a recent meeting, the San Francisco City Council highlighted the importance of fostering diversity and connection within schools, as exemplified by the experiences of students at John O'Connell High School. Bridal Tamayo, who has served as class president for three consecutive years, emphasized the significance of creating a safe and welcoming environment for all students. She proudly represents her heritage by wearing a Mexican sash, symbolizing her support for the Sueno Latino club, which aims to unite students from various backgrounds.

Leslie Guajaro, the school counselor for eleventh and twelfth grades at Donohano High School, shared her commitment to helping students achieve their academic goals. Her positive presence and dedication to student well-being were noted as vital components of the school’s supportive atmosphere.

The meeting also celebrated the achievements of students like Maya, who is set to study nursing at Sonoma State University after gaining valuable experience through an internship at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. This opportunity allowed her to shadow doctors across various specialties, further inspiring her career path.
