San Francisco Unified School District Introduces New Standardized School Start Times

In a significant shift aimed at enhancing student well-being and academic performance, the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) announced new school start and end times for the 2021-2022 academic year. Under the new schedule, all schools will begin classes at one of three designated times: 7:50 AM, 8:40 AM, or 9:30 AM. This change, while a departure from previous schedules, comes after consultations with parent advisory groups and school staff, acknowledging the impact on families.

The district is also standardizing the length of the school day across elementary and middle schools, addressing inconsistencies that existed prior to the pandemic.
