Utah County and Provo City expand holiday lights for festive season

During a recent meeting of the Utah County Commission, officials announced a collaborative effort with Provo City to enhance holiday celebrations in downtown Provo. The commission approved the use of tourism funds to increase Christmas and holiday lights along the downtown corridor, aiming to create a festive atmosphere for all residents and visitors.

This initiative comes at a time when other cities, such as Salt Lake City, are scaling back their holiday light displays due to various restrictions. The commissioners emphasized their commitment to inclusivity, inviting all citizens of Utah to celebrate the season, regardless of the holiday they observe, whether it be Christmas, Hanukkah, or others.

The decorations will extend from Pioneer Park down to the county building, with plans for the lights to remain up through the New Year. The commission ratified an agreement with Bridal Lights for the installation and removal of the holiday lighting, which had already received preliminary approval from all three commissioners due to time constraints.

This decision reflects a broader effort to foster community spirit and encourage families to enjoy the holiday season in Provo's downtown area. The commissioners expressed their enthusiasm for the project, highlighting its importance in bringing the community together during this festive time.
