Utah County Commissioners honor law enforcement ahead of National Police Week

During a recent meeting on May 11, 2022, the Utah County Commission took significant steps to honor local law enforcement as part of National Law Enforcement Week, which runs from May 16 to May 22. The commissioners expressed their commitment to recognizing the dedication and sacrifices made by law enforcement officers in the county and across the nation.

The meeting featured a resolution that highlighted the valor and integrity of law enforcement personnel, emphasizing their role in protecting citizens and maintaining community safety. The resolution noted that there are over 900,000 law enforcement officers serving throughout the United States, with a somber acknowledgment of the 147 officers from Utah who have lost their lives in the line of duty. This year, 619 new names of fallen officers will be added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Commissioners underscored the importance of community support for law enforcement, encouraging residents to display U.S. and law enforcement flags during the designated week and to express gratitude to officers and their families. The resolution was unanimously approved by all three commissioners, reflecting a strong collective stance in support of local law enforcement.
