San Francisco DPH promotes mental health, honors AANHPI heritage and award-winning employee

The San Francisco Department of Public Health (DPH) highlighted several key initiatives during a recent government meeting, focusing on mental health awareness and community engagement. May was designated as Mental Health Awareness Month, with DPH launching a social media campaign to promote its diverse mental health programs. The department also celebrated Asian American, Native American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, exemplified by Deputy Director Dr. Navin Bhabha's participation in the APA Heritage Awards alongside Mayor London Breed.

In addition to these cultural observances, Laguna Honda celebrated Nurses Week, emphasizing the critical role of nurses in patient care. The leadership team at Laguna Honda expressed appreciation for the nursing staff's dedication, particularly during the facility's ongoing restructuring to enhance its skilled nursing services.

Recognition was also given to Mauricio Dela Cruz, who received the Rookie of the Year award from the California Department of Public Health for his contributions to emergency preparedness. This accolade underscores the department's commitment to building a strong emergency response team.

Furthermore, ZSFG hosted its inaugural equity award ceremony, reinforcing the department's focus on health equity as a guiding principle. Dr. Susan Ehrlich addressed attendees, emphasizing the importance of equity in healthcare delivery.
