Southern Pacific Brewing seeks permit for outdoor entertainment and live music

Southern Pacific Brewing is set to enhance its community presence by applying for a Live Entertainment Permit (LLP) to introduce live performances at their brewery. The new ownership, led by General Manager Jake Anier, aims to transform the brewery's atmosphere from a casual after-work spot to a vibrant entertainment venue. The proposed plan includes hosting various events, such as live bands, DJs, comedy shows, and karaoke, both indoors and on their outdoor patio.

The brewery is requesting permission to hold outdoor entertainment daily from 9 AM to 10 PM, with a maximum of six hours of entertainment per day. Additionally, they seek to have outdoor amplified sound during the same hours, not exceeding ten hours daily. Senior inspector Zverina will oversee sound testing to establish appropriate sound limits for the venue. Notably, the brewery has already reached out to nearby residents and businesses, receiving no opposition to their permit application.

In a separate agenda item, the Portola Music Festival, organized by Goldenvoice, is preparing for its third year at Pier 80, scheduled for September 28. The festival will feature four stages with popular music acts and expects an attendance of around 40,000 people. This year, the festival will end outdoor amplified sound 15 minutes earlier on Sunday, addressing previous complaints related to noise levels. Goldenvoice is implementing additional sound monitoring measures and has established a hotline for real-time public communication regarding any concerns.

Both initiatives reflect a commitment to enhancing community engagement through entertainment while addressing potential noise concerns. The approval of Southern Pacific Brewing's permit and the preparations for the Portola Music Festival signal a proactive approach to fostering a lively cultural scene in San Francisco.
