Entertainment Commission approves Sewell Bar and Lounge live performance permit

The San Francisco Entertainment Commission has taken significant steps to enhance the city’s nightlife and cultural scene during its latest meeting. A key decision was the approval of a limited live performance permit for Sewell Bar and Lounge, which received unanimous support from the commission with no public opposition. This approval is part of a broader effort to support local businesses and provide residents with more entertainment options.

The commission also discussed a notable application for a place of entertainment permit for a new record store located at 177 Eddy Street, previously home to Pandora Karaoke. The new owner plans to revitalize the space by introducing karaoke, live DJs, and bands, alongside outdoor amplified sound for movies and ambient music. This initiative aims to create a vibrant atmosphere for diners and patrons, extending outdoor entertainment until 10 PM.

To ensure the sound levels remain manageable for nearby residents, the commission recommended that the amplified sound not exceed ambient levels at a distance of 50 feet from the property line. Additionally, the record store will offer late-night dining options, featuring a menu crafted by a partnering chef, which includes flatbreads, crepes, and fried chicken.
