San Francisco Board approves $1.4M Heron's Head Park shoreline resilience grant

San Francisco County officials have taken significant steps to enhance local commerce and infrastructure during a recent government meeting. The highlight of the session was the unanimous approval of an ordinance waiving fees for temporary street space occupancy permits, aimed at promoting sidewalk sales during the holiday season. This initiative will allow local businesses to thrive on December 4, 5, 11, and 12, 2021, as they prepare for increased foot traffic and holiday shopping.

The meeting also addressed critical infrastructure funding, with a resolution authorizing the Department of Public Works to accept nearly $1.9 million from the 2019 Active Transportation Program. This funding will support the Alameda Interchange Improvements Phase 2 project, which aims to enhance safety and accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists along Alameda Boulevard. Additionally, the Port of San Francisco received approval to accept a $1.4 million grant from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife for the Heron's Head Park Shoreline Resilience Project. This initiative focuses on habitat restoration and shoreline stabilization, addressing environmental concerns such as erosion and invasive species.

The meeting concluded with discussions on lease modifications with United Airlines, extending terms and adjusting rental agreements to adapt to the current economic climate. The resolutions are projected to generate approximately $13 million in revenue for the airport over the next three years.
