Commission approves Earth Bar merger with Project Juice in Mission District

The San Francisco City Commission convened on July 4, 2025, to discuss a significant proposal regarding the merger of Project Juice with Earth Bar, a health and wellness establishment located in the Mission District. The meeting focused on the conditional use (CU) permit required for Earth Bar to continue operations at its current location, following the merger.

The presentation highlighted that the merger aims to maintain the existing staff, menu, and overall ambiance of the establishment, with the primary change being the name transition to Earth Bar. The proposal was presented as beneficial for the community, emphasizing three main points: it would provide healthy food options, activate a retail space on a commercial corridor, and retain the current workforce of 11 employees.

Support for the project was evident, with 13 local merchants and 43 customers expressing their backing through signed petitions. The community engagement efforts of Project Juice were noted, including participation in local events and contributions to community initiatives.

During the public comment period, Clay Sanger, CEO of IRSPAR, reiterated the commitment of Project Juice to the community and the potential positive impact of the merger with Earth Bar. He emphasized the continuity of the wellness mission and the importance of community support in their operations.

Following the public comments, the commission moved to a vote. Commissioner Moore expressed support for the CU permit, which was seconded and unanimously approved by the commission, passing with a 6-0 vote.

The meeting concluded with the commission transitioning to the next agenda item, indicating a structured and efficient progression through the topics discussed. The approval of the merger marks a significant step for both Project Juice and Earth Bar, reinforcing their commitment to community wellness in the Mission District.
