Mayor Brooke Jenkins joins SFFD in distributing school supplies at Drew Academy

The recent meeting of the San Francisco Fire Department (SFFD) highlighted several community outreach initiatives and departmental updates, emphasizing the importance of support for local youth and the well-being of firefighters. Chief O'Connor reported on the successful distribution of hundreds of school supply bags to children at the Dr. Charles Drew College Preparatory Academy, a collaborative effort with the Sparkle Foundation, which aims to provide 4,000 bags across the Bay Area.

In addition to the school supply initiative, the SFFD participated in the Autumn Moon Festival, showcasing their education and community outreach efforts. The meeting also marked the 74th annual Police and Fire Share Memorial Mass, held at Saint Mary's Cathedral, honoring those who have served.

Another key topic was the procurement of larger bags for firefighters to store their gear. The department plans to outfit new probationary firefighters first, with a goal of acquiring 1,700 bags.
