San Francisco housing plan prioritizes racial equity and affordable housing for all income levels

The meeting also highlighted the extensive public engagement process that has been integral to the development of the housing plan. Over the past two years, the city has conducted outreach in three phases, focusing on communities of color and those most vulnerable to housing insecurity. This outreach included 22 focus groups, 40 community-hosted virtual events, and 10 events conducted in Cantonese and Spanish, with over 1,600 survey responses primarily from low-income people of color.

As the city moves forward, officials aim to finalize the goals, policies, and actions of the housing plan by March of the following year, ensuring that community feedback is incorporated into the final draft. This comprehensive approach underscores San Francisco's commitment to addressing housing challenges through a lens of equity and inclusion.
