Valencia Corridor Merchants Association secures permit for outdoor music events

In a recent meeting held at San Francisco City Hall, city officials gathered to discuss and approve a series of permits aimed at enhancing community engagement and supporting local businesses. This vibrant event is set to take place on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, starting February 26 and running through June 25. It aims to bring together local artisans, live music, comedy, and poetry, all while boosting foot traffic to support businesses along Valencia Street.

Lauro Gonzalez, the event organizer, passionately presented the initiative, emphasizing its goal to activate the streets and create a lively atmosphere that benefits local merchants. The event is expected to draw around 400 attendees each day, with plans for a rotating stage to feature performances across different blocks. The commission acknowledged the potential sound impacts on the surrounding neighborhood, but with no opposition raised, they moved forward with the recommendation for approval, incorporating a Good Neighbor Policy to ensure community considerations are met.
