Inspector Fiorentino confronts Amsterdam Cafe over unpermitted entertainment incidents

Inspector Fiorentino reported that after receiving complaints about unauthorized entertainment, he visited the cafe twice on February 11. Initially, no entertainment was observed, but the bartender mentioned hiring a guitarist for outdoor performances.

However, a subsequent visit revealed a band playing inside the establishment, prompting Fiorentino to engage with the owner, who was reportedly dismissive about the need for a jam permit. Despite attempts to reach the owner directly, communication remains a challenge. The inspector emphasized the importance of compliance, stating that the cafe requires both a jam permit and a license for indoor entertainment.

The meeting also addressed a permit application for a limited live performance at the Community Arts Stabilization Trust, indicating a proactive approach to supporting local arts while ensuring regulatory adherence. As the city continues to navigate these entertainment regulations, officials remain optimistic about guiding businesses toward compliance and fostering a vibrant cultural scene.
