San Francisco introduces groundbreaking military leave pay policy for reservists

The San Francisco County Board of Supervisors convened on July 4, 2025, to discuss significant legislative measures aimed at supporting veterans and military reservists. Courtney Ellington, another commissioner, highlighted the need for state and community support for veterans, particularly regarding economic stability during deployments.

Public comments concluded with Francisco de Costa, who urged the Board to continue providing essential services to veterans, particularly those experiencing homelessness. The supervisors acknowledged the importance of addressing the economic and social needs of veterans, with several expressing their commitment to furthering support initiatives.

Following the discussions, Supervisor Marv moved to forward the policy to the full Board of Supervisors with a positive recommendation. The motion received unanimous support from the committee members, indicating strong backing for the initiative.
