Commission approves Whitecap's permit for outdoor amplified sound at Taraval Street bar

The San Francisco City Council has conditionally approved a permit application for Whitecap, a bar located at 3608 Taraval Street, to host indoor entertainment and outdoor amplified sound. This decision, made during a recent meeting, allows the establishment to feature small bands, DJs, and play recorded music to attract new customers. The approved hours for outdoor amplified sound are set from 3 PM to 9 PM on weekdays and from 2 PM to 8 PM on weekends.

The application process included outreach to nearby commercial and residential tenants, resulting in one letter of opposition from a neighbor concerned about the potential for daily entertainment. Despite these concerns, the bar's owner, Matt Lopez, expressed a desire for flexibility in scheduling events, although he clarified that they do not plan to activate entertainment every day.
