Supervisors endorse liquor license transfers for Evergreen Market and Olympic Club

The San Francisco County government meeting on July 4, 2025, focused on two significant liquor license transfer applications, both of which received positive recommendations for approval.

The first item discussed was the transfer of a Type 21 off-sale general beer, wine, and distilled spirits liquor license to Isha's Community Market, operating as Evergreen Market, located at 2539 Mission Street in District 9. Officer Foneras from the SFPD's ABC liaison unit reported that there were no letters of protest or support regarding the application. The market aims to offer a selection of imported spirits from Latin America, responding to community demand for such products. Ishmael, the owner, emphasized the market's long-standing relationship with the community and its commitment to serving local needs. The committee moved to recommend the application to the full Board of Supervisors.

The second item involved a similar application for the Olympic Club at 524 Post Street in District 3. Officer Foneras again reported no opposition to the transfer of the Type 21 license, which would allow the club to sell alcohol for off-premise consumption. Abhi Sankar, the club's director, highlighted the club's historical significance and its efforts to adapt to changing community needs, particularly in light of challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The club seeks to enhance its offerings and generate additional revenue to support its community programs. The committee also recommended this application to the full Board.

Both applications will be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors for final approval, reflecting the committee's belief that these licenses will serve the public convenience and necessity.
