LAFCO appoints Jackie Fielder as new vice chair during January video meeting

The Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) of San Francisco convened on January 2022, led by Chair Connie Chan, to discuss several key agenda items, including the adoption of teleconference meeting findings and the nomination of a new vice chairperson.

The meeting began with a reminder that it was being held via video conference, allowing members to participate as if they were physically present. Public comments were encouraged, with multiple options for participation provided to ensure community engagement.

One of the primary items on the agenda was a resolution to allow teleconference meetings under California government code. After a brief public comment period, which yielded no callers, the commission unanimously approved the findings, with all present members voting in favor.

The commission then moved to the nomination of Commissioner Jackie Fielder as vice chair. Commissioner Gordon Marr nominated Fielder, praising her contributions and community connections. Fielder accepted the nomination, and after another public comment period with no responses, the commission voted unanimously to appoint her as vice chair.

Additionally, the commission approved the minutes from the previous meeting held on November 19, 2021, also without public comment.

The meeting concluded with a report on Community Choice Aggregation Activities, indicating ongoing efforts to enhance local energy solutions. The commission's decisions reflect a commitment to transparency and community involvement in local governance.
