Residents of Hand Street oppose renaming to Jackson Way amid community concerns

Residents of Hand Street in San Francisco's District 10 voiced strong opposition during a recent government meeting regarding the proposed renaming of a segment of their street to honor Dr. Ruth Mary Jackson. The resolution aims to rename the middle segment of Hand Street between Visitation Avenue and Sunnydale Avenue to "Jackson Way."

Community members expressed concerns about the implications of the name change, highlighting the potential costs and inconveniences associated with updating legal documents, such as mortgage records and identification.
