Commission approves Covania rooftop bar permit at Luma Hotel in Mission Bay

In a recent San Francisco government meeting, the approval of a new rooftop bar, Covania, took center stage, marking a significant addition to the city's vibrant nightlife. Located on the 17th floor of the Luma Hotel at 108 Channel Street, Covania is set to offer a Latin-themed cocktail experience, complete with three outdoor terraces and a fully enclosed interior space.

The bar's owner, John Park, who also opened the nearby rooftop restaurant Cayo, presented the proposal for a POE permit, which would allow indoor entertainment until 1 AM on weekends and until midnight on weekdays. Additionally, Covania seeks to host outdoor music and occasional entertainment daily from 11 AM to 10 PM. The proposal received no opposition from the community, with Park's extensive outreach efforts—including direct communication with local businesses and residents—highlighted as a key factor in garnering support.

The commission unanimously approved the consent agenda, which included the staff's recommendations for the permit. Notably, the outdoor sound limits will be set closer than the standard 250 feet due to the proximity of residential buildings, ensuring minimal disruption to nearby residents.
