Entertainment Commission approves amplified sound permit for Proposition Chicken on California Street

The San Francisco Entertainment Commission convened on July 4, 2025, to discuss several permit applications, focusing on indoor and outdoor entertainment regulations. The meeting began with the approval of two limited life performance permit applications, both for indoor venues. Senior Inspector Zavrina confirmed that internal sound limits had been established for the premises, and there were no objections from the applicants or additional conditions from the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD). The commission unanimously approved these items without public comment.

Following the consent agenda, the commission addressed a significant application for a fixed place amplified sound permit (FPAS) from Proposition Chicken, a restaurant located at 3465 California Street. The restaurant, which has held a jam permit since October 2021, is seeking to extend its outdoor amplified sound hours from 6 to 10 hours daily, specifically from 11 AM to 9 PM. This extension aims to enhance their outdoor dining experience by incorporating music during lunch service.

The owner, Max, expressed gratitude for the commission's support and noted that there was no opposition from neighboring businesses in Laurel Village. The SFPD's Richmond Station also did not impose any additional conditions on the permit. The commission is expected to deliberate further on this application, which reflects the ongoing efforts to balance entertainment options with community considerations in San Francisco.
