Mission Bay and Transbay project managers outline $126.5M infrastructure development plans

The session began with a presentation on the infrastructure budget, totaling $126.5 million, primarily allocated for development infrastructure reimbursements. Project managers detailed ongoing and upcoming projects, emphasizing collaboration with developers for infrastructure work. Notably, the Mission Bay project manager, Mark Slutskin, highlighted plans for the completion of Park P3 and other infrastructure developments, including streets and parks, with a focus on public art installations.

Following this, Ben Brandon, the acting transit project manager, discussed the Transbay area, where significant progress has been made. He reported that nearly 60% of the $50 million budget would support the Transbay Joint Powers Authority for future infrastructure development linked to the Salesforce Transit Center. Key projects include the Folsom Street improvement and the design advancement of parks within the area.

Lila Hussein, senior project manager for Hunters Point Shipyard and Candlestick Point, provided insights into the development status of these sites. She noted active development in Shipyard Phase 1, while Phase 2 remains under Navy control, with ongoing remediation efforts. The Candlestick Point area has seen some infrastructure work, although overall development is still pending.

The meeting concluded with a clear outline of the city's infrastructure goals and budget allocations, setting the stage for continued development and community engagement in these key areas.
