Entertainment Commission approves five permits including new rooftop bar Cayo at Hyatt

The San Francisco Entertainment Commission convened recently to discuss several permit applications that could enhance the city’s vibrant nightlife and cultural scene. Among the key items on the agenda was the approval of multiple permits, including two indoor live performance permits, a billiard parlor permit, and a mechanical amusement device permit.

Deputy Director Azavito presented the consent agenda, which included five permits with no opposition from the public. The only condition added was a standard recommendation from the San Francisco Police Department for the Thriller Social Club. Notably, the commission also considered a one-time event permit application, which is a rare occurrence on the consent agenda. This application allows a business to host up to 15 events before their ongoing entertainment permit hearing scheduled for June 21.

The commission unanimously approved the consent agenda, highlighting the importance of supporting local businesses and providing more venues for artists to perform. Commissioner comments reflected excitement about the opportunities these permits create for the community, with one member expressing enthusiasm for long-standing businesses like Churchill and Goldcane applying for limited live permits.

In addition to the consent agenda, the commission reviewed a permit application for a new rooftop bar and restaurant called Cayo, located atop the Hyatt Hotel. This venue aims to host live events, including DJs and comedy acts, enhancing the dining experience for patrons.
