Commission on the Environment honors Eden Brookman with Environmental Service Award

The City of San Francisco honored Eden Brookman with the Environmental Service Award during a recent commission meeting, recognizing her significant contributions to the city's green initiatives. Brookman, a senior green building coordinator, was praised for her innovative solutions and leadership in various environmental projects, including chairing the municipal green building task force and facilitating the electrification of San Francisco International Airport (SFO).

Commissioner Hunter highlighted Brookman's creativity and ability to foster relationships across departments, which maximized her impact on the community. Her accomplishments also include updating critical building management policies and representing the U.S. at the ASEAN Smart Cities Partnership in Singapore.

In her emotional farewell, Brookman expressed gratitude for the supportive work environment and the opportunity to lead impactful green building initiatives. She emphasized the importance of kindness and compassion in her role, leaving a lasting impression on her colleagues and the community.

The meeting also included a brief introduction of new staff members by Acting Director Tyrone Zhu, who expressed hope for a future meeting that wouldn't involve farewells. The commission continues to focus on enhancing the city's environmental efforts while welcoming new talent to the team.
