Mid Market Foundation expands ambassador program to enhance community support services

San Francisco County is ramping up efforts to enhance community safety and support through a new ambassador program aimed at deterring negative behavior and assisting both residents and visitors. The initiative, which covers approximately 80 block faces, will deploy ambassadors seven days a week from 7 AM to 7 PM, ensuring a consistent presence in the area.

The Mid Market Foundation leads this initiative, coordinating a coalition of organizations to provide essential services. A significant portion of the funding will go to Urban Alchemy, the organization responsible for employing the ambassadors. Their role includes direct engagement with the community, responding to real-time situations, and offering support to those in need.

During the meeting, officials highlighted the importance of training for the ambassadors, addressing concerns about their preparedness to deliver effective support services. The program aims not only to improve safety but also to foster a collaborative environment by working closely with city agencies and community members.
