Department of Early Childhood targets childcare resources in Lakeview OMI District

In a recent government meeting, San Francisco County officials highlighted significant strides in addressing childcare needs in the Lakeview and OMI neighborhoods. Director Arce emphasized the importance of establishing a job center in Lakeview, which was previously lacking. This initiative stemmed from data showing that many youth in training programs were coming from the area, underscoring the need for local investment.

The department has established an advisory committee that allows community members to participate in budget planning and review processes. This initiative aims to ensure transparency and accountability in how funds are allocated.

The meeting concluded with discussions about the availability of tax credits for childcare facilities, with officials acknowledging that awareness and utilization of these credits need improvement within the community.
