Freedom Forward executive director highlights youth support initiative in San Francisco

A new initiative aimed at combating commercial sexual exploitation of youth in San Francisco is set to expand, with plans to serve between 36 and 50 young people annually. During a recent government meeting, officials discussed the potential creation of a new position funded by a grant, which would end once the grant expires. This initiative is part of a broader effort to provide low-barrier services, potentially reaching up to 300 youth.

Francesca Gonzales, executive director of Freedom Forward, a collaborative partner in the initiative, expressed gratitude for the support and highlighted the importance of partnerships in addressing this critical issue. She noted that over the past six months, their organization has successfully served 20 to 25 young people through a prevention model at the Hype Center, which offers multi-service support tailored to the needs of the youth.

The meeting concluded without further public comments, but the discussions underscored a significant commitment to protecting vulnerable youth in the community. As the initiative moves forward, stakeholders are optimistic about its potential impact and the continued collaboration among various organizations.
