Public Safety Committee approves beer licenses for Kim Wong Cafe and Origin Nightclub

The second item involved a Type 90 on-sale general music venue liquor license for Origin Boutique Nightclub, operated by Lily Nguyen at 1538 Fillmore Street. Similar to the first application, there were no letters of protest or support. However, this venue is situated in a high-crime area with a high saturation of alcohol licenses. The committee recommended approval with specific conditions, such as limiting noise levels and requiring uniformed security during entertainment hours to ensure community safety.

Both discussions highlighted the balance between supporting local businesses and addressing community concerns about crime and noise. The committee's recommendations will be forwarded to the full Board of Supervisors for further consideration, reflecting ongoing efforts to navigate the complexities of urban development and public safety in San Francisco.
