San Francisco designates Wind Newspaper for Chinese outreach and adds World Journal

San Francisco County has taken a significant step to enhance community outreach by designating Wind Newspaper as the official periodical for the Chinese community. This resolution, approved during a recent government meeting, aims to better serve the approximately 150,000 Chinese American residents in the city who speak Mandarin, Cantonese, or other Chinese dialects.

The decision, supported by the Office of Contract Administration, follows a competitive bidding process that identified Wind Newspaper as the most suitable outlet for outreach efforts. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to ensure that diverse communities within San Francisco receive relevant information and resources.

In addition to Wind Newspaper, the Potrero View has also been designated as the outreach periodical for the Potrero Hill, Dogpatch, Mission Bay, Eastern South of Market, and Bayview neighborhoods. These designations are crucial for fostering communication and engagement within these communities.

During the meeting, Supervisor Mark proposed an amendment to include World Journal as an additional neighborhood newspaper. This amendment aims to extend outreach efforts to the Portola and Sunset Districts, ensuring that these areas are adequately represented and informed.

The resolutions reflect a commitment to inclusivity and effective communication within San Francisco's diverse neighborhoods. As these initiatives move forward, they are expected to strengthen community ties and improve access to vital information for residents.
