San Francisco Board approves concession leases for Harvey Milk Terminal 1

San Francisco County officials are moving forward with key initiatives aimed at enhancing local services and promoting sustainability. During a recent government meeting, the board approved a resolution to authorize the expenditure of funds for the automobile insurance grant program, a recurring grant included in the annual budget. This funding is crucial for maintaining insurance coverage and requires specific resolutions from the California Department of Insurance each year.

In a significant development for the San Francisco International Airport, the board also approved two food and beverage concession leases at the Harvey Milk Terminal 1. The leases, awarded to HFFSFO 2 LLC and High Connects LLC, will generate approximately $15.6 million in minimum annual guaranteed rent over their 12-year terms. Notably, the lease with High Connects LLC is designated as a small business set aside, supporting local enterprises. Although minimum rents are currently suspended due to the pandemic's impact on air travel, they will be reinstated once employment levels recover.

Additionally, the Department of the Environment is set to enter agreements allowing other municipalities to use San Francisco's innovative zero waste sign maker tool. This web application, developed to help the public create customized signs for recycling and waste disposal, aims to improve recycling efforts beyond the city limits and reinforce San Francisco's leadership in sustainability initiatives.
