Market Zone Working Group advocates for improved conditions near new shelter

Safety was another critical issue raised by Halby, who reported that workers in the area feel unsafe due to crime. He requested that the shelter provide community ambassadors and an adequate police presence to enhance safety for residents and workers alike.

Halby concluded by expressing the desire for continued involvement from the Market Zone Working Group in the planning process for the shelter, aiming to ensure it serves as a beneficial addition to the community rather than exacerbating existing challenges.

After public comments were closed, the committee moved to send the item to the full board with a positive recommendation. The motion passed with two votes in favor, while Vice Chair Stephanie was excused from the vote. The meeting concluded without further business.
