City reports $19M year-end fund balance with notable capital project impacts

The City of Prineville is celebrating a significant financial boost, with the third quarter fund balance rising by approximately $3 million. This positive trend is attributed to the general fund, various System Development Charge (SDC) funds, and building facility funds, all contributing to the city's overall financial health.

However, not all funds fared well. The railroad, airport, water, and public works funds experienced declines, primarily due to ongoing capital projects and equipment purchases. Despite these setbacks, the city's IT department has been actively upgrading infrastructure and user equipment, which is expected to enhance operational efficiency.

Looking ahead, projections indicate that the total city fund balances will reach around $19.2 million by year-end, marking an increase of about $2.1 million from the beginning of the year. This financial outlook reflects the city's commitment to managing its resources effectively while investing in essential projects.
