Pompton Lakes honors fallen firefighter Raymond Cahill at 50th memorial service

A poignant tribute to fallen firefighter Raymond Cahill marked the recent Pompton Lakes Council meeting, as the community commemorated the 50th anniversary of his sacrifice. Firefighter Cahill lost his life on May 14, 1974, while battling a fire at the Town and Country supermarket. During the meeting, officials praised the efforts of the Pompton Lakes Fire Department, which has not lost another firefighter in the line of duty since that tragic day.
