Library explores borrowing pickleball nets for community use

The Town of Stratford Parks & Recreation Committee is exploring innovative ways to enhance community engagement through recreational activities. During their recent meeting on April 4, 2024, committee members discussed the potential for a partnership with the local library to offer pickleball nets for borrowing, similar to how libraries lend books and other items.

Committee member Chad proposed the idea of allowing residents to borrow pickleball nets, which could be stored in a lockbox at the library. This would enable users to access the nets easily, set them up for play, and return them after use. Amy, another committee member, supported this initiative, suggesting that a lockbox system could work effectively, especially since most users would be responsible adults.

The committee discussed the feasibility of purchasing a few nets as a trial run, with costs estimated at around $120 each. This pilot program aims to gauge community interest and usage before making larger investments. Members expressed optimism about the quality and durability of modern nets, indicating that they could serve the community well.
