Stratford Town Council approves multiple grant applications for community support programs

During the Town of Stratford Council meeting on May 13, 2024, council members approved several key initiatives aimed at enhancing community services and infrastructure.

One of the most significant decisions was the approval of multiple projects under the Neighborhood Assistance Act tax credit program. The council voted to submit funding requests totaling $20,000 for Feralkell Inc. to support veterinary care, $100,000 for Feral Care Inc. for energy efficiency renovations, and $50,000 for Sterling House to improve energy efficiency. Additionally, $9,500 was allocated for Perry House for interior updates and repairs, along with another $14,369.25 for energy efficiency improvements at the same facility. The council also addressed tax transfers, approving a resolution to transfer $390,348.88 into tax suspense. This move is part of ongoing efforts to manage the town's financial resources effectively.

Another highlight of the meeting was the resolution supporting a grant application to the United Way of Coastal and Western Connecticut. This application seeks funding for scholarships for the South End Community Center's SummerSway enrichment program. The council authorized Mayor Laura Hoytich to execute the necessary documents to secure this funding, which aims to provide valuable educational opportunities for local youth.
