One student shared her experience of being cut from a team after requesting to wear her hijab, while another was told her headwear had to match her uniform's material and color. Senator Cullimore emphasized that school sports should not require waivers for students to wear religious headwear, as such policies are often obscured by local education authorities and athletic programs.

First Lady Abby Cox is also involved in this initiative, aiming to advocate for changes in policies that affect student athletes. The goal is to engage with cities, nonprofit organizations, and athletic associations to promote a review of their internal policies to ensure they respect religious freedoms and personal standards of modesty.
