Utah House passes multiple bills including domestic violence and early childhood amendments

The Utah General Legislative Session on January 18, 2023, focused on the passage of several key bills by the House, which are now set for consideration by the Senate. The meeting began with the Secretary announcing the successful passage of House Bill 15, which addresses sunset amendments for the Board of Credit Union Advisers, introduced by Representative Malloy.

A series of other bills were also passed, including House Bill 22, which pertains to local district amendments by Representative Barlow, and House Bill 28, which involves arson amendments introduced by Representative Glynn. Notably, House Bill 43, concerning domestic violence modifications, was presented by Representative Perucci, while House Bill 46 focused on criminal code recodification and cross-references, led by Representative Gwynn.

Additional bills included House Bill 47, which extends the criminal code evaluation task force, and House Bill 48, addressing early childhood amendments, both introduced by Representative Gwynn and Representative Pulsipher, respectively. House Bill 49, concerning motor vehicle safety inspection advisory council amendments, was presented by Representative K. Peterson, and House Bill 55, which revises off-highway vehicle registration requirements, was introduced by Representative Albrecht.

The House also passed House Bill 67, related to Veterans and Military Affairs, by Representative Burton, House Bill 74, which amends the Utah Marriage Commission, by Representative Ballard, and House Bill 77, which includes local district revisions by Representative Barlow. All these bills have been transmitted to the Senate for further consideration.

In addition to the House bills, several Senate bills were introduced, including Senate Bill 105, which amends traffic enforcement, and Senate Bill 106, which addresses caregiver compensation, both introduced by Senators Stevenson and Harper, respectively. Other Senate bills include Senate Bill 107 on oil and gas severance tax amendments by Senator Winterton and Senate Bill 108, which revises animal shelter regulations by Senator McHale. These bills will also be sent to the rules committee for consideration.
