Governor declares March as Youth Art Month honoring Art Show winners in Springville

The Utah government meeting held on February 15, 2024, highlighted the declaration of March as Youth Art Month, celebrating the creativity of high school students across the state. The governor's office announced this initiative to recognize the achievements of student artists showcased in the annual All State High School Art Show at the Springville Museum of Art.

This year marks the 52nd edition of the exhibition, which featured artwork from 102 schools. Out of 1,064 pieces submitted, only 326 were accepted for display, with 70 students receiving scholarships and special awards for their outstanding contributions. The event is supported by the legislature through the "pops" program, which funds arts initiatives in the state.

During the meeting, attendees were encouraged to view the artwork in person at the Springville Museum of Art. The governor's office invited award-winning students and their families to stand and be recognized for their accomplishments, emphasizing the importance of fostering artistic talent among youth.

In addition to the art celebration, the meeting also addressed legislative matters, including the introduction of House Bill 161, which focuses on school board amendments. This bill was previously discussed in the education committee, where it received a favorable vote.
