Chief Steve Gray honored for life-saving actions on Interstate 80

The Mount Pleasant City Council meeting on November 26, 2024, highlighted a significant recognition for Chief Stephen Gray of the Mount Pleasant Police Department. Sergeant Brett Hansen from the Utah Highway Patrol presented a nomination for Chief Gray to receive the DPS Life Saving Medal. This nomination stems from an incident on September 19, 2023, when Chief Gray, while off duty, intervened to assist a motorist who had lost consciousness on Interstate 80.

During the incident, Chief Gray and his wife came across a family performing chest compressions on the individual. Without hesitation, Chief Gray joined in the life-saving efforts, continuing chest compressions until emergency responders arrived and administered Narcan, which ultimately revived the individual. Hansen praised Chief Gray's selflessness and professionalism, stating that his actions saved a life and reflected positively on the law enforcement community.

In addition to this commendation, the council reviewed the claim register for the period from November 9 to November 22, 2024, totaling $278,734.40. This financial overview is part of the council's ongoing efforts to maintain transparency and accountability in city expenditures.
