Delano City Council proclaims May 2025 as Community Action Month to honor CAPK efforts

The Delano City Council meeting on May 5, 2024, highlighted the significant contributions of the Community Action Partnership of Kern (CAPK) to the local community. CAPK, established in 1965, operates numerous programs aimed at alleviating poverty and supporting families in Kern County, including Delano.

During the meeting, representatives from CAPK detailed their various initiatives, such as the Head Start and Early Head Start programs, which provide free early education to children in need. CAPK also operates the K Food Bank, distributing over 22 million pounds of food annually through a network of local partners, including churches and community organizations. In Delano alone, these partners have helped distribute 1.44 million pounds of food in the past year and a half.
