B1C hosts immigrant community gathering in Northwell to discuss recent election impacts

The City of Norwalk held an Immigrant Community Meeting on December 18, 2024, aimed at fostering unity and support among the diverse immigrant population in Fairfield County. The meeting, organized by B1C, brought together approximately 5,000 members of the immigrant community, many of whom have connections to Lowell.

The gathering focused on creating a safe and welcoming environment for all individuals, regardless of their background. B1C emphasized its commitment to providing essential services, including English language learning, citizenship preparation, job skills development, and legal assistance for those facing complex immigration issues. The organization collaborates closely with community leaders, government officials, and partner organizations to amplify the voices of immigrants and ensure their needs are met.

During the meeting, participants reflected on the current climate following the recent election, acknowledging feelings of uncertainty reminiscent of the 2016 election.
