Golf Authority addresses property damage concerns from Chipping Lane residents

The City of Norwalk Oak Hills Park Authority meeting on December 19, 2024, focused on several key issues, notably ongoing concerns regarding golf balls landing on neighboring properties and discussions about improving pace of play on the golf course.

A significant topic raised was the situation involving the property at 17 Chipping Lane, owned by Bob and Lynn Barati. The Baratis have experienced repeated issues with golf balls landing in their driveway and damaging their property, including dents in their garage door and damage to their vinyl siding. Despite the installation of a larger net earlier this year, which cost $10,000, a recent incident still resulted in damage. The authority's chairman, along with other members, met with Mr. Barati to discuss the issue, emphasizing the importance of communication and addressing neighbor concerns. While Mr. Barati initially expressed interest in having his garage door replaced, he later clarified that he was more focused on finding a long-term solution to the problem.

The meeting also touched on the pace of play at the golf course, with a member suggesting that improvements are needed to ensure that groups adhere to the established time of 4 hours and 24 minutes for a round of golf. Discussions included the potential need for more rangers to monitor play and enforce rules, as well as the importance of better communication regarding pace of play expectations to golfers.

In addition to these discussions, the authority plans to review and approve new rates following a public hearing, as noted in the legal notice shared during the meeting. The authority aims to address these issues proactively to enhance the experience for both golfers and neighboring residents.
