Owner Jason introduces Domo ice cream shop in Olivet with unique offerings

The City Council of Olivette, Missouri, held a "Coffee with the Mayor" session on December 11, 2024, where local business owner Jason introduced his new venture, Domo, a Japanese-inspired ice cream shop. The meeting aimed to foster community engagement and provide residents with insights into local businesses.

Jason described the experience of opening Domo as "smooth sailing," emphasizing the supportive environment for new businesses in Olivette. He expressed his desire for every business to receive a "red carpet treatment," encouraging them to choose Olivette as their home.

During the session, Jason explained the meaning behind the name "Domo," which translates to "abundant" in Japanese and is often used to express gratitude. He noted that the name was chosen for its positive connotation and memorability, despite some challenges in securing a domain name.

The shop, located at 9538 Olivette, is situated between Olivette Lanes and Dobbs Tire, offering ample parking for customers. Jason shared his operating hours, which are noon to 9 PM on weekdays, and extended hours on weekends. He mentioned potential adjustments to hours during the summer based on customer traffic.

Attendees inquired about the menu, which features traditional ice cream made with local dairy, as well as options for non-dairy customers, including coconut milk-based flavors. Jason also highlighted the availability of sorbet and bubble tea, with the OG milk tea being a customer favorite.
