Cape Cod Commission plans multimodal improvements and bike paths for regional transportation

Cape Cod is set to enhance its transportation infrastructure significantly, as outlined in the recent Cape Cod Regional Transportation Plan Outreach Meeting held on March 21, 2023. Key developments include the ongoing construction of a shared-use path along Service Road in Sandwich and a new connection from the Cape Cod Rail Trail in Yarmouth to Barnstable, which aims to integrate Barnstable into the regional bike path network.

The meeting highlighted the ambitious Vision 88 initiative, which envisions an 88-mile continuous off-road bike path stretching from Woods Hole to Provincetown. This project is part of a broader effort to improve connectivity and promote sustainable transportation options across the region.

Another critical focus of the meeting was congestion reduction, particularly at bottleneck locations such as the Mashpee Rotary.
