Cape Cod RTA expands free fare program for seniors amid restoration efforts

Cape Cod's Metropolitan Planning Organization meeting on March 25, 2024, highlighted significant developments in community engagement and transportation projects. In addition to community engagement, the meeting featured updates on various transportation projects from MassDOT. Rich provided insights into several ongoing initiatives, including the Mashpee Corridor project and sidewalk improvements along Route 28. Notably, design submissions for multiple projects are due in April, indicating a proactive approach to infrastructure development.

Deb from the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority reported on the success of a new free fare program for seniors and individuals with disabilities, with around 650 Go Cards issued. This initiative aims to boost ridership, which currently stands at 89% of pre-pandemic levels, as they anticipate further increases in the coming fiscal year.
