Northampton Housing Authority approves $19K credit for Hampshire Heights window project

The Northampton Housing Authority Board of Commissioners convened on February 24, 2024, to discuss several change orders related to the Hampshire Heights window project. Commissioner Tar Button raised concerns regarding the clarity of the information provided to board members, particularly for new commissioners. She emphasized the importance of understanding the vendor relationships and the selection process for contractors, which is determined by the state. Director Leeper reassured the board that the state selects all contractors and that the authority's role is limited to approving or rejecting the projects.

The discussion also touched on the historical context of Hampshire Heights, which has faced ongoing water issues due to its location. Commissioner Brooks noted that the change orders aim to save money for the state while addressing these long-standing problems. The board acknowledged the significance of the state’s investment in mitigating water-related challenges at the site.
