Colorado House discusses multiple bills in session including drug pricing and education

The Colorado Legislature made significant strides during the House Daily Reading on March 26, 2024, as several key bills were advanced for further consideration. Notably, the Committee on Business Affairs and Labor recommended amendments to House Bill 1300, which will now be referred to the committee of the whole for further discussion.

In education, Senate Bills 63 and 143 received favorable recommendations and will also move forward to the committee of the whole. The judiciary committee made substantial progress by recommending the referral of multiple bills, including House Bills 1031, 1294, and 1301, along with Senate Bill 171, all of which are set for further examination.

The Committee on Transportation and Local Government proposed that House Bill 1198 be amended, while Senate Bill 141 was recommended for indefinite postponement, indicating a shift in focus for the committee.

Additionally, the introduction of several Senate Bills related to drug pricing and health services highlighted ongoing efforts to address healthcare affordability. Senate Bill 71 and Senate Bill 124, both concerning outpatient drugs sold at discounts to nonprofit hospitals, were assigned to the Committee on Health and Human Services. Furthermore, Senate Bill 178, which focuses on a social and emotional health pilot program for K-5 students, was also introduced.
