West Bend plans summer Beer Garden to offset Regner Park operating costs

As the sun began to set over West Bend, the Parks & Recreation Commission gathered to discuss exciting summer plans that promise to enhance community engagement and enjoyment. Among the highlights was the introduction of an inflatable zone at Regner Park, set to operate this summer. Ryan, a key organizer, shared that a detailed report on the inflatable zone's operations will be presented in May, ensuring the commission is well-informed ahead of the season.

The commission also unveiled the upcoming "Welcome to Summer Beach House Beer Garden," scheduled for May 31 and June 1. This event aims to offset the anticipated $23,000 loss from operating Regner Park during the summer, a figure based on projected growth from last year’s numbers. Attendees can look forward to a variety of beers, food trucks, and live performances, promising a lively atmosphere for all.

In addition to the beer garden, Dan, another commission member, reported on ongoing park maintenance and improvements. He mentioned the removal of approximately 80 tree stumps and the preparation for tree planting in various locations. The team is also gearing up for the inflatable setup, which involves careful planning to ensure safety and fun for visitors.

The meeting highlighted the success of recent community events, including a fishing clinic that attracted 661 children, resulting in numerous catches and joyful memories. This positive feedback underscores the importance of such initiatives in fostering community spirit.

Moreover, the commission is working on a nature playground, utilizing an Alaskan sawmill to create custom wooden structures. This project reflects a commitment to enhancing outdoor recreational opportunities for families in West Bend.
