City begins planting 274 trees for annual tree project and park enhancements

The West Bend Parks & Recreation Commission meeting on April 25, 2024, highlighted several key initiatives aimed at enhancing the community's green spaces and recreational opportunities.

One of the most significant updates came from Rick, who reported that the annual tree planting project is now in progress. This initiative, which began last week, will see a total of 274 trees planted throughout the city. Among these, many will be free tree requests for residents, while additional trees will be planted in Regner Park and along the newly completed Riverwalk phases on the West Side. This effort not only beautifies the community but also contributes to environmental sustainability, with completion expected in the coming weeks.

In addition to the tree planting, the commission discussed the development of a Nature Playground at LLC, which is currently in the design phase. This project aims to provide a unique outdoor play experience for children, fostering a connection with nature.

Recreation Supervisor Ryan also shared positive news regarding spring sports, noting that youth baseball, soccer, track and field, and archery programs have all kicked off with solid enrollment numbers. The staff has been actively engaged in these activities, ensuring a smooth start to the season.
