Pickens County recognizes employees for decade-long service and emergency response efforts

The Pickens County Board of Commissioners held a meeting on January 18, 2024, focusing on employee recognitions and commendations for outstanding service. The meeting began with a warm acknowledgment of the contributions made by long-serving employees, highlighting their dedication to the county.

The first recognition was awarded to Tammy, who celebrated ten years of service in the tax assessor's office. Her steady presence and commitment to her role were praised by her colleagues, particularly Mr. Dobbs, who emphasized her significant contributions to the county government over her 17-year career. Tammy received a ten-year service pin as a token of appreciation.

Next, the board honored Stephanie Gooch for her remarkable 30 years of service. Colleagues described her as a strong and knowledgeable employee who is not afraid to speak her mind. Her productivity and customer relations skills were highlighted, showcasing her as a vital asset to the tax office.

The meeting also addressed a tragic incident that occurred at the recycling center earlier in January, where an individual passed away. In response to this emergency, employees Peyton Couch and Brad Benson were recognized for their quick actions during the crisis. They, along with other staff members, sought additional medical training to better prepare for future emergencies. Kenny Woodard and Michael Shore also expressed their pride in the team’s response during this difficult situation.
